Dr. Allison K. Barner
Starting in September 2019, Dr. Barner will be the Clare Booth Luce Assistant Professor in the Department of Biology at Colby College. During her Ph.D. in the Department of Integrative Biology at Oregon State University, she used experiments to understand how diverse communities of marine species are formed, persist, and change under pressure from a changing ocean. As a James S. McDonnell Foundation Postdoctoral Fellow in Studying Complex Systems, she explored new ways to model species interactions as complex systems.
Postdoc, James S. McDonnell Foundation Fellow, University of California Berkeley
Ph.D., Zoology, EPA STAR Graduate Research Fellow, Oregon State University
A.B., Biological Sciences: Ecology & Evolution, University of Chicago
Beginning in Fall 2019, there will be paid opportunities for Colby College students to do research in the Barner Lab. Research positions will be available both to field research in the Gulf of Maine rocky intertidal ecosystem and to do computational research using existing data, simulation, and theory.
